Read Brave 2025 Selection!

Join us for April’s Book Club as we participate in the St. Paul Public Library’s Read Brave initiative! This citywide book club, hosted by Mayor Carter and the Saint Paul Public Library, encourages the community to come together through the power of books. Read Brave 2025 invites us to explore identity, community, and empowerment through this year’s book selection: Akata Witch by Nnedi Okorafor.

About the Book:

Akata Witch is a young adult Africanfuturism novel that follows Sunny Nwazue, a Nigerian-American teen navigating her identity between two cultures. When she discovers she belongs to a secret magical world where her greatest weakness becomes her greatest strength, she embarks on an adventure steeped in Nigerian folklore, mystery, and the power of friendship. The novel explores themes of self-discovery, acceptance, and community responsibility in an exciting coming-of-age story.
