CRPs for CTC Residents
CTC is not required to pay property taxes or make payments in lieu of taxes, in which our co-op does not provide Certificates of Rent Paid to CTC residents.
We want to clarify an important matter regarding Certificate of Rent Paid (CRP) forms for CTC residents.
CTC does not provide Certificates of Rent Paid (CRPs) to our residents. We understand that this may be different from the conventional rental experience, where landlords typically issue CRPs for tax purposes. However, due to our unique situation, we are not required to provide CRPs, and here's why:
CTC is located on land owned by the University of Minnesota. As a result, our co-op does not pay property taxes or make payments in lieu of taxes. Without these payments, there is no reimbursement available to the co-op or our residents. While we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, we want to reassure you that this aspect is reflected in your low monthly rental rate.
Please note that while CTC does not issue CRPs, you may still need to report rental expenses when filing your taxes, depending on your individual tax situation. We encourage you to consult with a tax professional for guidance on how to proceed.
